The most relaxing holiday in Borovets

We stayed at Rila Hotel just after the end of ski season, so the resort was overall calm and quiet. We had a superior room with a great view over the woods. The hotel offered top quality service and despite the end of the active winter season all facilities were available and were of excellent quality- spa/wellness - saunas, steam room, including massage and facial treatments, also swimming pool and jacuzzi, games area, snooker, bar and one restaurant. Our 5-year old could play till late evening at the kids’s club where the child minder was extremely friendly and caring. The hotel, a local landmark, has been fully renovated in 2016, and we were impressed by how stylish and comfortable it was, fitting the surroundings really well. We were also happy with the varied breakfast and staff service overall. Excellent cocktails at the terrace bar, and delicious cakes and ice cream at the lobby bar. Great Hotel with the location nearby slopes, relaxing atmosphere, good food, large and secure parking. BrillIiant Vacation

I had the best time at Rila, The hotel was so clean. Powerful hot showers in the room which are great after 6hours of skiing. We had great views of the mountains from our room. Great selection of food at the buffet for breakfast and dinner. The swimming pool area is nicely decorated in plants and the spa has a very relaxing vibe. The slopes are fantastic for both myself (first time beginner). We also did some fun activities such as the forest walk, snowboarding and the skidoo up the mountains. Great Hotel and facilities

Ski Hire in hotel and only 2 minutes to the drag/chair lifts. Buffet breakfast is extensive. Fantastic Hotel in every way this is the 6th time of visiting. Worth the extra cost for the Mountain view. I have been to numerous Ski resorts in France Italy and Austria and mostly I find them a rip off to some degree. Food at Rila very high standard in Italian style and cater for vegatians. We stayed in February half term with our family and we had an amazing holiday. The hotel and staff completely exceeded our expectations. They were very helpful before and during our stay and our family room was amazing. Go for a slop-side if you can. It wont dissappoint. The views are amazing and it truely is a ski in/ ski out hotel. You can lie in bed and watch the night skiiers. We stayed half board and the food and drink was amazing. The extensive buffet catered for even the pickest of children. The ski school and hire were brilliant, very friendly and a pleasure to ski (and snowboard) with. We cant wait to return. Ideally suited to beginner and intermediate skiiers. Great stay..great hotel!

Fantastic time at the Hotel Rila. The hotel accommodation is top class with all the amenities in the hotel. Our family of four with two teenage girls were given a interconnecting room that overlooked the slopes, the room were very modern with decent size bathrooms. As the hotel is located at the bottom of the slopes and in the heart of Boravets. Food was great as we were half board plenty of choice in all types of cuisine. Staff all friendly and would always help out in any way. Lovely pool and spa facilities to relax after a day's skiing, with a very nice lounge area to chill with a drink after. All in all a great hotel , you pay for what you get and the Rila is worth every penny. Family skiing holiday to Borovets

Everything about this hotel is great. Located at the bottom of the slopes so you can ski in. Also close to the bars and restaurants. Rooms are perfect and spacious. Staff are very helpful. Breakfast and dinner offers a great selection of food. Beautiful chill out reception area in foyer with a log fire, whilst also watching people come down off the slopes Perfect to sit and people watch. The hotel also offers a ski equipment storage! Fantastic hotel in perfect location

Fantastic hotel in a perfect location for Borovets, you step outside the hotel, put skis on and off you go! Yes it’s not the alps but it’s a fraction of the price and really good! Our beginner kids had private ski lessons and happily skiing at the end of our 5 day trip better than some of the adults in our group! The resort is beautiful and there’s no ski snobbery - it’s very crowded on the slopes at times but it was Feb half term so to be expected. The food was just fine with lots of healthy salad and fruit options for dinner. The other review comment about ‘chavs’ is so judgmental, it’s full of normal families with kids learning to ski and children of all ages having fun - if you are noise sensitive bring earplugs but I didn’t have a problem sleeping after a full day of skiing and swimming in the hotel pool. Would like a safe in the room and more eco conscious steps (masks and gloves for every meal due to covid was very wasteful and of limited benefit to avoid transmission of an airborne virus, so hope that stops soon) but this has to be seen in the context of Bulgaria generally which doesn’t have widespread recycling - maybe this hotel can help lead the way on that front! Great modern ski in / out hotel

Slopes / lift straight out of the front door so location is perfect. It is modern and has a good design / vibe. The terrace bar is great for apres ski with a view over the bottom slope. You do have to walk 5 minutes to the gondola, and the ski/boot hire room is very busy at the start of the week. Stayed at the Rila Borevets for a week from 5th Feb. What a fantastic hotel !!! Service, hygiene and customer care all first class. Superior rooms are spacious and have a large bathroom with powerful shower. Food in the restaurant was excellent with good variety. On entering Restaurant each guest supplied with mask and disposable poly gloves. All cutlery individually wrapped for hygiene and an army of staff permanently clearing and cleaning tables. Absolutely spotless. The hotel is literally ski in ski out right at the foot of the slopes. Borevets is lively with a fabulous atmosphere. My Ski Holiday

I am quite Hotel experienced.This Hotel Rila is a breath of fresh air, having stayed 2 yrs ago in another large hotel in the resort that was very poor..Right in resort,s heart.Can ski in and out.Clean modern.Restuarant ex cellent breakfast evening meals.Fabulous choice, well prepared. The Spa is fabulous.Had good massages for reasonable rates, lovely sauna and steam room. Fully recommend the Hotel.Can I say thank you to our cleaner, dark haired lady and George in the Spa. Another Amazing Trip

een going to the Rila for about five years now, with the exception of last year (ugh) and as before, it was another great stay. The hotel is clean and the food is good. There is a lovely lobby to sit and enjoy a drink after a day skiing or before heading to dinner. The SPA i s an added bonus after a long day in the cold. I did have an issue with the attitude of the staff a couple of visits ago, I felt strongly enough to complain and this seems to have been totally rectified now, the staff are much more friendly and approachable. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

A beautiful hotel at the foot of the ski slopes, ski in/out is so convenient, close to all main lifts and the service of rental/storage is friendly and efficient. All restaurants/bars are just outside, like the whole resort is based around the hotel! Lovely, large rooms with beautiful views and the most amazing, high pressure and warm shower ever!! Great after a long day of skiing! Breakfast is wonderful with lots of choice and restaurants/bars in hotel are great. Spa/pool is also great, clean and lovely views of the slopes! Best Hotel in Borovets

The Rila is by far the best hotel in borovets. We've stayed in a few so have lots of experience to compare to. Newly refurbished in 2020 the interior is very modern. Rooms are spacious, and luxurious + they get cleaned every day. The spa, sauna, steam room, hot tub and pool are brilliant after a long day of skiing. The hotels many restaurants and bars all boast amazing views of the slopes and top notch food. The icing on the cake is that the hotel is right at the bottom of the main lift/ slope. With equipment rental and storage on the bottom floor, you can ski in, ski out and forget having to walk far in your ski boots. Fab family ski trip

We are just finishing our 1st trip to Bulgaria skiing and have stayed in the Hotel Rila in Borovets. Excellent hotel, kids completely catered for, reception staff great when dealing with any issues ( we had a problem with noisy neighbours and they moved us straight away). Kindergarten were excellent too. Food varied. Lovely big family room. Skiing has been amazing with loads of snow and excellent runs to suit all levels. Ski in, ski out. Loads of activities in resort. Excellent 5 star

We had a good holiday experience here in the hotel. It’s very convenient to go skiing, just few steps out of the hotel. The restaurant is good as well, we had half boarding, very good breakfast and decent dinner! I really enjoy the healthy food here. A stay to remember

We are currently coming to the end of a weeks stay at the Rila Hotel and the experience has been fantastic. We arrived very late due to a delay at the airport and a meal had been prepared for us to take to the room, a nice touch. The room is modern with stunning views over the slope (615) the hotel undertook a refurbishment a couple of years ago and wow does it show. The food ( we are half board) is plentiful with good choices that even a fussy 6 year old could not fault. The amenities are spot on and after a long day skiing we took advantage of the swimming pool and jacuzzis. We also hired our skis from the hotel and the service was very good. Absolutely Excellent

Perfect in every way. We stayed 15-22 Jan 2022. Newly decorated superior room with balcony overlooking the slopes. From checking in, to room to food to drinks to spa to staff everything was perfect. They made us feel like princesses

I've been thinking about writing this review for a couple of years now... I've stayed in Rila more than 10 times now and just got back from my last visit. This is my favorit hotel, not just in Borovetz and not just in Bulgaria. This is where I stay, when I want to be taken care of and feel special. I really don't know how they do it each and every time, especially because this is a very big hotel, but they do :) The staff is a group of the nicest people, you will ever meet. The management is always thinking of ways to make every stay different, special and better than the last. I like to book days, that are not in the ski season, for family vacations, romantic getaways or girls weekends. Every person, that I take there, wants to come back again and again, haha. I want to share with you the highlights from this weekend. I went there with my best two friends for girls timeout. Because a month ago I was there with my husband, I was given a welcome back special bonuses for this stay to choose from. I picked a massage + a single lunch. When we entered the restaurant for dinner, we were not only welcomed by the hostess, but also by the "food manager" ( I don't know what exactly is his job title, but I could tell that he was "the boss" there) and he told us that they have planned a special lunch for us tomorrow and in what timeframe to come to the main restaurant for it. When we did, we saw that we were the only invited guests. There were more hotel employees than us and I can't even imagine how many people were in the kitchen waiting for our order. We were given menus that I'm sure they have created especially for us and we could order whatever we choose from them. 3 salads, 2 soups, 5 main dishes and 3 desserts were in the list. The man that served us, was extremely polite and with a smile on his face all the time. He had made that impression on me during my previous stays as well. He encouraged us to try everything out from the menu, which we almost did, and even offered us to pack our desserts to go, when we told him that we were just too full to eat them Needless to say that we felt like VIP guests or even royalties. At 3pm, when we went to the SPA for our massages, three masseurs were waiting for us and they escorted us in line to the rooms downstares that they work in. Each of us got a great back massage. After that I stayed in the thermal area and may I add that I was the onlyone in there, haha. Like this was my personal SPA. Something that I've experienced several times at that hotel when I go to the SPA during Sunday afternoon or Monday-Thursday. This Saturday for example, the SPA area was full, so my advice is to book your stays for nights between Sunday-Thursday (not in high season), if you like having all the saunas and pool for yourself, like I do. And you should definitely book your stay at this hotel! I wanted to tell you about our wonderful summer family vacation in Rila this year, the great free activities for kids that they had added to our stay, the awesome Yoga instructor they had, even about the amazing level of food quality and variety, but this review got too big and I assume that you can find those pointed out in many of the other reviews. You've done a fantastic job to attract and provide a 5 star service!

Firstly the locatbion is superb….. Secondly, the cuisine is above average Bulgarian all inclusive level. Your personnel are really tuned and proactive, we've never had to ask for something, they've prolonged working hours for families with babies and it's really valuable. We've seen families with 2-3-4 kids and all of them got special attention in the Seasons restaurant. The food has always been different (except breakfast) and dietetic, really well prepared and served. Finally, the SPA and pool - amazing experience! Swimming in a chill sunny pool with a baby or having a personal workout is great - clean water, lots of space to stay and a smart split for swimming and fun areas. The SPA left a very positive experience - compact and spacious with an amazing chill zone, several saunas help to keep distance. So to summ it up - I've been living in Bulgaria for 13 years and it's the first time I see such a European and Alpine quality. Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Rila. The hotel is modern, clean and has all the facilities you'd need. The staff is helpful, they all speak English - including at the restaurant and SPA, and the location is the best you can get. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious, the beds were comfy to sleep in, the bathroom was big, with a good shower - great water pressure. The heat in the room was a bit hard to get at the right temperature, but we managed. We had half board, buffet breakfast and buffet dinner - the food was really good and plenty, diverse enough to always eat something else in 3 days. The staff is very efficient, and helpful. We did not try the swimming pool, but the massage I had at the SPA was great, for half the price in western countries. I got a nice ski instructor from Boro Sport Center, and the facilities for storing, renting and purchasing ski passes are great. Also, you can pay by card anywhere in Borovets - which was amazing. Skiing holiday

Everything was great. We enjoyed our stay in Signature room with beautiful slope view. The food was delicious with various options to choose from. The pool, jacuzzi and spa were great relaxation after long skiing day. The hotel is very clean, staff is very kind and we felt safe thanks to the Covid-19 measures which were implemented by the hotel management. Be back next year!

Just returned from a weeks holiday in Borovets, staying at the Hotel Rila. The hotel is beautiful, warm & friendly, with excellent facilities. Warm and cosy bar with lots of seats and a terrace bar on 2nd floor looking out on to the slopes. Spa centre in hotel includes a pool, jacuzzi, steam rooms, saunas and treatments are available. Food in the buffet restaurant is really nice with lots of choice. Ski hire centre is located in the building, staff there are great and very efficient. What a hotel!

Can not recommend this hotel enough, lovely, clean and warm with very friendly staff. We had a superior slope room, it was amazing, breakfast and dinner was lovely each day/night with plenty of choice. Drinks in the hotel were cheap and lots to choose from. We missed dinner on our first night due to our flight and we were given a little bag of Sandwiches, fruit, cake bar and water. The hotel is the centre of the resort, close to all ski lifts, ski rental and bars. We enjoyed the pool a few nights during our stay after a Long day of skiing which was very relaxing. Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, nice clean, modern renovated rooms and nice breakfast. There are attractions for children including a swimming pool. The hotel is directly on the slopes in the middle of the ski resort, so the location is perfect. Culinary weekend in Rila Hotel

We had a marvelous stay at the Rila Hotel! The place has been refurbished and everything felt new and clean. The staff have been very welcome and polite. We loved the SPA - the capacity has been increased and it suits the hotel perfectly. The food they surved was delicious.
